Volunteers needed

To provide spiritual strength to alleviate the feeling of isolation and loneliness by means of providing social interaction in their weekly lunch serving physical and spiritual food.

We value their belief and respect their human dignity and help restore hope in the last portion of their life.

Is a charitable organization founded in February 1989 . Each Wednesday for the past 23 years something very unique and empowering takes place in the sunny courtyard behind the Parroquia. Long tables covered with red and white checkered tablecloths are set up under laurel trees.

The tables are numbered according to age 65-95; the elders will be served fírst. Before the food is served, their thin old voices are lifted in a song of gratitude...

04:00pm  spirit: Prayer and Contemplation Group

04:00pm-

Location: St Paul's Church, Cardo 6
Contact:
Website:

Mary Jane Miller is organizing an 8 week directed group for prayer and and contemplation at St Paul's Anglican Church . The focus will be on Advent first and conclude with the Christmas season. We will ask what it means to come into the world, and the spiritual life which is activated as a result. Centering prayer, contemplative prayer and the prayer of quiet are all going to be explored in an effort to open ourselves to listening to God and remembering whose we are.
Beginning December1st and January 19th at St Paul's Church
The format will be simple, 20 minutes of quiet, 20 minutes of conversation, discussion observation, etc and finalize the time with another 20 minutes of quiet. 4 weeks in Advent and 4 weeks following Christmas, 50 pesos donation per session and there is no requirement you come to them all.
Every Thursdays 4 PM
IDEAS to be EXPLORED
Advent tells us Christ is near and
Christmas tells us Christ is here.

Christmas represents God's brilliant idea to become human and walk among us! Why do such a thing? Because we need an image of love for it to grow within us, to show us the way and to have a reference point for what is true, good and lasting love.
Come and prepare a place within yourself. Epiphany is the Christian celebration of what other religions call enlightenment. Enlightenment is the inward realization and consciousness of being identified with who we really are. We are individual expressions or manifestations of God, a wave of energy, light and purpose which flows through us.
"All great spirituality teaches about letting go of what you don't need and who you are not. Then, when you can get little enough and naked enough and poor enough, you'll find that the little place where you really are is ironically more than enough and is all that you need. At that place, you will have nothing to prove to anybody and nothing to protect.
All are welcome to share tier insights and experiences. Peace

The Meditation Center presents the 24 part Great Courses series Mind-Body Philosophy: Part 2- Mind and Body in Greek Philosophy 1, at 5:30, Thursday, January 18, 2018, at the Center, Callejon Blanco #4.

This lecture looks at the earliest philosophical influences on thinking about mind and body. Our legacy from the Greeks includes materialism, dualism, and another force called functionalism. The origin of Greek philosophy lies not in Greece, but in Miletus, in Ionia, on the west coast of present-day Turkey. Greek philosophy is divided into the period before and after Socrates, the watershed figure in ancient philosophy.

The pre-Socratics were materialists; the universe is a material one. The Ionians were cosmologists, asking: What is the world made of? They wanted a single substance of which all was composed. Thales of Miletus, writing around 600 BC, believed the cosmos was made of water. Around 550 BC, Anaximenes proposed air was the substance. In Heraclitus, about 500 BC, it was fire. Leucippus and Democritus, around 400 BC, came closer to the view of contemporary science, in proposing the cosmos was composed of extremely small particles moving randomly in a void, much as we think of atoms. The Pythagoreans rejected the material cosmos, believing it made of numbers. There were also elements of panpsychism, a contemporary philosophy which insists the world is made of one basic kind of stuff, which is not purely physical.

Plato, a student of Athenian Socrates, gives his clearest outline of dualism in the Phaedo. There are two realms in the universe: the physical, and the realm of ideas and the soul. The real world is the world of ideas; a world divided between the ideal and its imperfect physical imitation. Plato's theme of modularity

The Nautilus Chamber was imagined and built to be a sacred dance space, with the defining thread being a weekly dance that would allow people to come and explore their deepest inner selves and express it authentically and unabashedly in movement. Now, finally, we bring you one night of Danzlibre anchored by myself, Ethan Feldman followed the next week with a Danza Primal wave guided by the inspired leadership of Isaac Calderon. All you need to do is come and dive into yourself and see what moves you, moving how you want to move as if no one is watching. Absolutely no dance experience is necessary. As facilitators, it is Isaac’s and my aim to help find those nooks and crannies of yourself that normally don’t get a chance to be expressed but can now find voice in the safe and supportive environment of Conscious Dance. Our disciplines that we trained and certified in are, for me, Dancing Freedom, and for Isaac, Danza Primal, an integral part of his master’s training in Transpersonal Psychology. Each week we will bring a theme and music to engage you deeper into your being and find out more about who you already are. You will leave with a sense of fullness and aliveness and will have a chance to share your insights with others in circle, should you choose to do so. We look forward to celebrating our new community with you!

We play at the diportiva just up from Mega, and in front of the entrance to Los Frailes.

A paddle sport created for all ages and skill levels. The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.

The Basics
1. A fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong.
2. Played both indoors or outdoors on a badminton-sized court and a slightly modified tennis net.
3. Played with a paddle and a plastic ball.

A Game for Everyone
The USAPA currently estimates there are now over 400,000 players actively playing pickleball.

10:00am-12:00pm
Cost: $300
Location: Meet in the Jardin across from the Parroquia

Website: https://historicalwalkingtour.org/

English-speaking guides walk guests through San Miguel’s glorious past, showing them the city center, and its historic buildings and churches. The tour takes approximately two and one-half hours, covers a ten-block area and is mostly level walking. It is a definite “must” for any visitor to San Miguel! The Historical Walking tour has been awarded TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence.

Some highlights of the tour include: La Parroquia – San Miguel’s iconic landmark church. Casa Canal – the magnificent former home of San Miguel’s most prominent family. El Nigromante – originally a convent, then San Miguel’s first school of art, now a cultural center. Vida Obra de General Ignacio Allende – David Siqueiros’ famous unfinished mural and House of Conspiracies – where the war of independence was planned.

Tours take place every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Groups meet in the Jardin across from the Parrroquia at 9:45 AM and leave at 10:00 AM. Cost: 300 pesos.

Your donation supports the work of Patronato Pro Niños, a non-profit organization that has provided dental and medical care to the children of the neediest families within our community and outlying area, since 1970. Revenue from the tours makes a substantial financial contribution the organization.
